“You get an extra push. Much quicker turns!”
A tradition in hockey is to focus on improving strength, speed and endurance by lifting weights, running sprints or long distance running etc. However ice hockey is a sport that puts extremely high demands on the players skating technique and most players can get stronger, quicker and better endurance on the ice by simply improving their skating technique. For most players it’s also a quicker and more effective way of improving, simply because they have been neglecting improving the details of their skating technique and balance in favor of the traditional training methods. So keep trying to challenge yourself and strive to perfect your skating technique.
