Sales at Marsblade increased by more than 270% in the first half of 2020 as a result of in-line skating becoming more popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sports Business Journal reports. A superior roller skate with a patented rocker mechanism in the chassis is produced by the company, which was founded in 2011 by former NHL prospect Per Mars.

This technology, Flow Motion Technology, may be used for both in-line skating and ice skating. According to Mars, the mechanism gives the "feel of truly skating on ice," making it a much superior training tool than conventional inline skates.

The Marsblade I2, the next gen model of the on-ice blade holder with "improved material composition" and a quick-release function to change the blade on a skate boot, is currently in production prototype testing and will be available the following year.

Since Marsblade has been so successful, NHL players and trainers have become interested in it; former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall is currently utilizing the blade. NHL stars Henrik Zetterberg of the Detroit Red Wings and Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals are among the investors.
